Beranang, 24 October – Robotfighto created by students of MARA-Japan Industrial Institute (MJII), Amira Syahdina Ahmad Suffian, Nur Alia Syafiqah Hassan Buhari and Anisah Mardhiyyah Mohamad Zaki who are participated in Youth Robot Challenge 2018 (Y-RoboC’18) from 14th to 16th October 2018 at Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN), Sepang recently as a warm up training before representing MJII in Robofighto Competition 2018, Beranang, Selangor.

According to Amira, they were required to produce a fightorobot to the requirements set by the organizer that were the measurement must be 300mm without arms and the weight must be not more than 8kg.

Alhamdulilah, we succeeded in producing a fightorobot within 30 days and had been practising every night to ensure they wouldn’t encounter any problems during the fight.

“We are always sensitive to the important elements in creating fightorobot because with a slight mistake, it would not function”, she said at the Robofighto Competition 2018 MJII here.

Nur Alia added that the interest to create the fightorobot trained her to be more discipline, creative and innovative. Moreover, the teaching in MJII encouraged students to create something that could benefit further in robotics and automation.

I was first attracted to fightorobot when I saw Battelbots and never thought that studying in MJII could give me the opportunity to create my own fightorobots, she said.

According to Anisah, it didn’t matter if you were a male or female to be able to create robofighto although men usually dominated this robot creation.

“Although I am a girl, I have a deep interest in robofighto and will not give up to learn more until I can create the best one”, she said.

Students from MJII hope that MARA would always give them the continuous support in organizing Robofighto Competition in the future to encouraged and expose students who are interested in robotics.

                                                                                                                                                           

 Tangkak, 19 October – 361 final year students from KKTM who completed their industrial training were exposed to relevant information in determining their career pathways in biomedical during the Biomedical Industry for Career Path 2018 (BICep 2018)

According MARA Johor Director, Mr. Nor Hashim Mahat, this programme is very significant in challenging information to students as well as to prepare them to face challenges in their working life later in biomedical field.

“With the advanced facilities as experienced lecturers, KKTM Ledang is a fine example to the industry and other institute of higher learning in this field and therefore this programmes is line with the continuous effort to produce human capital of a high quality and able to fulfil the industrial demand.

He said this while representing MARA deputy Director General (Education), Dato Roseli Dol to officiate BICeP 2018 here today.

The content of this programmes include Biztalk by MARA Johor, briefing on Degree in UniKL: The Way Forward, and MARA Biomedical Experts Summer (MARA BES) as well as interviews by the relevant industry.

This programme which was held for two days also include sports friendly matches, dinner and graduate excellence award ceremony.

Kemaman, 12 September- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) organized the International Innovation, Technology & Conference 2017 (Program i-Tec’17) at Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM) Kemaman, Terengganu from 11th to 12th September 2017.

YBhg. Profesor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Abu Azam bin Md Yassin, MARA council member, said that this programme driven by the theme “Research Evolution and Transformation” was to highlight TVET MARA future revolution.  The five main agenda of this programme were presentation of innovation projects/research papers, innovation exhibitions, competitions and research conferences in various fields, forums as well as sharing of information on oil and gas with the industry players.

 “121 products from 67 institutions throughout the country confirmed their participation in this conference, together with 62 presentation of research papers from 26 institutions,” he said.

“Three companies presented the latest information on oil and gas such as PPETS (Production Plant for Education Trainning System), Offshore Trainning Simulator (OTS) and Software Smart Plant which is beneficial to the oil and gas industry and Industry 4.0.”

According to Abu Azam, these systems were placed in KKTM Kemaman to support the academic purpose and to utilize facilities “Offshore Structure Lab”, “Rotating Equipment Lab”, “Control System Lab” and Electrical and Electronic Lab” with the aim to create local inventors in oil and gas.

This conference was supported with cooperation by UniKL MFI, UMP, MARA-Aerotech and other parties who industry players, institution of higher learning and local inventors with the hope that this i-Tec’7 will the catalyst to Malaysia Transformation in Industry 4.0.

Upgrading of Programmes from Certificate to Diploma

In 2017, MARA upgraded a number of certificate programmes to diploma programmes which involve five IKMs to suit the current needs. Two new programmes were also developed; a programme each under Material Processing Cluster in KKTM Masjid Tanah and Automotive cluster in IKM Besut. The need to upgrade these programmes is to fulfill the demand of the industry which requires global recognition, high-income earners and highly-skilled workers.
